Apple Updates Entire iPod Lineup with New Colors, Improved iPod Touch Specs

Earlier this week, Apple announced an update to its entire line of iPods, including new, uniform colors across all models and an all-new iPod Touch with performance enhancements, camera improvements and Apple Music integration.

New Colors

New iPod colorsAll iPod models now come in Space Gray, Gold, Silver, Bright Pink and Deep Blue. There’s also a [Product] RED model, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to help fight HIV/AIDs in Africa. This brings more uniformity across the iPod lineup, but iPod fans may be disappointed to see the disappearance of the yellow, green and purple models. This is the first time Apple has released a gold iPod.

iPod Touch Improvements

The new iPod Touch

New iPod TouchThe iPod Touch now features 6x faster overall performance and 10x better graphics performance thanks to the same A8 chip that’s in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The previous generation iPod Touch had the A5 chip. The new model also includes the new M8 chip for better fitness tracking, as well as 802.11ac WiFi for up to 3x faster wireless speeds.

The FaceTime HD camera has been updated with a new sensor and burst mode, allowing you to capture the perfect selfie without worrying about blinking. The iSight back camera has been updated from 5MP to 8MP, and now includes burst mode, slo-mo, 1080p video and improved stabilization.

The screen size remains the same, 4-inches and the new iPods do not include Touch ID. Apple has also removed the loop portion of the iPod Touch on the new model. Battery life, size/weight and pricing remains the same. There’s also a new 128GB model, available exclusively in Apple’s online store.
