Recently, I went on the App Store looking for a good new game to play. As many do, I was scrolling through the Top Charts section of the App Store trying to find something really interesting that looked fun to play. I came across Monument Valley, a game which I had heard of before, but never played. I decided to give it a try. Monument Valley is an enticing and beautiful puzzle game that is well worth its $3.99 price tag.

What To Do In Monument Valley

The main objective in the game is to get a small, animated princess from a start point to an end point. It’s not always as easy as it seems. There are rotating and sliding objects within each level that must be correctly maniupulated in order for paths to connect. It is a game that makes you think. At its core, Monument Valley is a 3D puzzle platforming game.

The Look and Feel of Monument Valley

In the screenshots below, you can see how having a piece of the path rotate allows you to get to the higher pathway. As the game progresses, the levels increase in difficulty and require more thinking in order to move pathways and complete the level.

The graphics in the game are great. They are very modern and the overall design is excellent. In recent years, many user interfaces have adopted a flat design. Flat design means that textures are not common and there are slight elegant gradients in color. Monument Valley adopts this design style in order to render a beautiful 3D world that is as much fun to look at as it is to play in.

In Conclusion

All-in-all, I’m very impressed with Monument Valley. I've had a lot of fun playing this game in my free time. Right now, Monument Valley sells for $3.99 in the App Store.
