Apple's Sept 9th Event: "Hey Siri, Give Us a Hint"

Apple has officially announced their rumored iPhone event will occur on September 9th at 10am PST. Apple has traditionally done a big product announcement around this time each year, so the announcement comes as no surprise. This year, they’ve used the tagline “Hey Siri, give us a hint” to promote the event. Unsurprisingly, saying “Siri, give us a hint” on your iOS device leads to an array of humorous responses:

The event itself will likely contain product announcements for new iPhones with Force Touch, an A9 processor, 2GB RAM, an improved camera and a stronger aluminum body. We will also likely see a redesigned Apple TV with an A8 processor, more storage space, a touch-based remote, a new operating system with an app store and much more. It’s also likely they’ll announce a release date for the final version of iOS 9 and watchOS 2.

Apple will be livestreaming the special event on their website using uses Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology, with the following system requirements:

  • iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later
  • Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later
  • PC with Edge on Windows 10.
  • Second or third generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.

This marks the first year where Apple has allowed livestreaming on a PC, requiring the all new Edge browser on Windows 10.
