At WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), Apple gave out awards to the best designed apps of 2015. All of these apps are beautifully crafted, with intuitive controls that make them a joy to use. Take a look at all of the winners:

Robinhood

Robinhood is an elegant finance app that allows you to buy and sell stocks without any transaction fees. You can manage your portfolio, see real-time market prices, create stop-loss orders, build a personalized watch list and much more. Touch ID and/or passcode authentication adds an additional layer of security - and an Apple Watch companion app is included as well.

Shadowmatic

From the developer: “Shadowmatic is an imagination-stirring puzzle where you rotate abstract objects in a spotlight to find recognizable silhouettes in projected shadows, relevant to the surrounding environment.” Who knew it could be so fun to play with shadows. Gameplay is easy to begin with, but gets incredibly difficult as you progress.

Crossy Road

All jokes aside, this game let’s you experience what it’s like to be the chicken crossing the road. Unlockable characters, smooth gameplay, beautiful arcade-style design and frogger-like gameplay make Crossy Road an incredibly addicting experience. It’s a great way to kill some time.

Workflow

Workflow is a powerful productivity app that lets you automate a combination of actions which trigger different outcomes. For example, you can use workflow to make animated GIFs from a series of photos, add a home screen icon that calls a friend or family member, make PDFs from websites, get 1-tap directions to the nearest coffeeshop and much more. The Apple Watch companion app makes launching apps from the wrist incredibly easy.

Does Not Commute

Does Not Commute is a gorgeous strategic driving game in which players drive a variety of vehicles safely to their destinations in a limited amount of time. The gameplay is easy, with just two buttons (to turn left or right). Crashing slows your car down and shortcuts are everywhere.

Vainglory

Vainglory is an incredible MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) in which players compete in real-time over the Internet. From the curse.com, “Immersing you in a colorful and beautifully realized world, Vainglory gives you fast-paced and intense 20-minute matches on the go. Pick a hero and duke it out with unique abilities played with intuitive precision controls.” It’s easy to get started, difficult to master and incredibly addictive.

Pacemaker

Pacemaker makes it easy to mix your songs together - no DJ'ing skills required. From the developer: “Pacemaker takes the effort out of mixing by adding the magic. Just pick your music from iTunes or Spotify, hit play and get into the groove! It’s like having your own personal DJ on your wrist, back pocket or lap.”

Metamorphabet

$3.99 (Designed for Age 6-8)

Metamorphabet is a playful, interactive alphabet to help kids learn letters and words in an exciting new way. While it’s made for kids, adults will enjoy the beautifully crafted universe as well.
